Red wine. First vintage 1893. In 1883 Horace Chase, who had found his fortune investing in gold and silver mines, embarked on a new venture-winemaking in Napa Valley. Mr. Chase found the perfect volcanic rock and rich clay soil in which to plant vines and build a home, creating the estate that inspired the Stags Leap appellation.
