Makers Whisky Set

375 ml of Maker's Mark Bourbon and 375 ml of Maker's 46 Bourbon. History worth repeating. When Bill Samuels, Sr., burned his family's 170-year-old family whisky recipe in 1953, it wasn't be accident. Fed up with the hot, harsh, blow your ears off whisky his family (and virtually every other distiller) had been making for years, he was determined to create a bourbon that wouldn't burn on the way down and was consistently delicious. In doing so, he'd reinvent bourbon itself. Using locally grown red winter wheat rather than rye and aging his whisky to taste - not time - Bill, Sr., eventually found the full flavored, remarkably smooth taste he was after. Dubbed Maker's Mark by his wife, Margie, and hand-dipped in its signature red wax, this successful and revolutionary bourbon would represent the entirety of the Samuels family product for the next 50 years. That changed when their son, Bill Samuels, Jr., was inspired to create the other bourbon in this collection. After a career of growing the family business into a globally recognized brand, Bill, Jr., was poised to leave a mark of his own. With some trial and error and much perseverance, Maker's 46 was born. Thanks to an extended aging process and barrels specially modified with toasted, French oak staves, Maker's 46 delivers bigger, bolder flavors with the drinkability you'd expect from Maker's Mark. The meaning of the mark. Margie Samuels - a collector of fine pewter that was proudly inscribed with the marks of their makers - came up with the name Maker's Mark and designed one of her own. SIV stands for Samuels, fourth generation. The star to the bottom-left of our mark signifies Star Hill Farms, the longtime home of the Maker's Mark Distillery. makersmark.com.
